Care
Each Susan & Veronica apron is made of 100% lightweight cotton fabric, with exception to the ruffle, ribbon and pom pom trim. Cotton fabric is the perfect material for an apron, as the hollow fiber readily accepts dyes and promotes comfort through breathability.
Washing: Susan and Veronica aprons are machine washable. We recommend using cold water to avoid the colors from running. Use the gentle cycle only. Try not to use a silicone-based fabric softener, as they leave behind a waxy film.
Drying: Dry the apron in low heat as you would care for your favorite lingerie. For the "green" option, lay it flat or hang it on a line to dry.
Wrinkle removal: Remove apron from dryer as soon as cycle ends. We recommend using an iron on a moderate setting or a steamer over the fabric only. Please be careful not to iron/steam any of the trim as the heat may cause damage. We also like to spray starch on our aprons prior to ironing for that extra stiffness and "just like new" look.
While we use high quality cotton fabric, your apron may develop a hard to treat stain but don’t fret! Our aprons will protect your clothing, plus the occasional stain is evidence of all your hard work! There’s no single technique or product that can clean every spot or spill but here are some Susan & Veronica stain removal tips:
- Red Wine: Use denatured alcohol to take out the majority of the stain. Very carefully flush a small amount with white vinegar for the remaining color. Wash.
- White wine: Flush the stain with water. Wash.
- Coffee: Flush with small amount of white vinegar to remove the color. Use a combination solvent, such as Shout or Spray ‘n Wash. Wash.
- Tea: Flush with small amount of lemon juice to remove color. Use a combination solvent, such as Shout or Spray ‘n Wash. Wash.
- Grease from oil, butter, mayo, etc: Use a combination solvent such as Shout or Spray ‘n Wash. Wash.
- Protein from blood, egg, grass, etc: Soak stain in cold saltwater. Use a digestant such as Biz, Era Plus or Wisk. Wash.
- Fruit & veggie juice or jam: Use a denatured alcohol to take out the majority of the stain. Flush with a small amount of white vinegar to remove color. Wash.
- Lipstick: Use a combination solvent, such as Shout or Spray ‘n Wash. Wash.
Fit
Susan & Veronica aprons were designed to fit most body types. However, to ensure that your new Susan & Veronica apron is comfortable and fits correctly, use the following measurements as a guide:
Sugar Bomb™ Strapless Apron: Measures 16 inches around at the bust line and 25 inches around at the waist. The apron measures 28 inches in length, from top to bottom ruffle. The two pockets on each side measure 6 inches long and 5 inches wide. The side ties each measure 33 inches long, providing you with enough fabric to make the perfect bow.
Honey Kiss™ Waist Apron: Measures 22 inches wide on the gathered top and 33 inches wide at the bottom. The apron measures 18 inches in length from the bottom of ribbon to the top of pom poms. Middle pockets measure approx. 7 inches high and 6 1/2 inches wide. The ribbon tie measures 108 inches long which gives you enough length to tie it around your back in a bow or wrap it around the front. The ribbon can be trimmed with a sharp scissor for a custom fit. We don’t recommend cutting the ribbon more than 12 inches on each side for the best look and fit.
