Susan and Veronica - About Susan & Veronica Fashionista Aprons

When we started to develop our apron line, we found ourselves in several deep discussions (and by deep we mean blasting our favorite tunes while sipping Chardonnay!) of our design philosophy. What did our aprons represent? What kind of women did we envision wearing them?

Our market research quickly made us aware that there were two words that were constantly mentioned when referring to aprons:

“Vintage” and “Retro”

We found it interesting that wearing an apron and spending time in the kitchen was meant to bring us back to a “better time”, we were confused… What was wrong with today?

We were both raised in homes where our mothers had spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking and baking for the family while wearing shapeless and conservative aprons. Though we love and respect our moms dearly and cherish our memories filled with delicious meals and yummy treats, we definitely saw ourselves a bit differently.

We have created a line of contemporary aprons that represent our lifestyle and our philosophy that style begins at home. We obsess over the latest fashions, hottest music, dinner parties, spin and yoga classes, living green, humanitarian causes, careers, blogs and the well-deserved day at the spa. We are products of a generation of female empowerment, self-confidence and independence. We developed a love of cooking and baking not because we had to have dinner ready or because we were expected to, but because we simply enjoyed it.

While we respect the creativity of years gone by, our aprons are not meant to bring you back to an earlier time, but are instead designed with a modern stylistic approach that represents today’s woman and her state of mind. Our aprons will make you feel style savvy, flirty, playful or edgy while whipping up your signature meals or mixing your favorite cocktails. We invite you to turn your everyday kitchen routine into a red carpet event.

Susan & Veronica

About Susan:

Susan has always had a flair for fashion. Raised in upstate New York, she started designing her own imaginative rock star clothes at 10 years old and continued to create her own designs throughout college. In 1996, she went on to a flourishing career at MTV - a breeding ground for style and individuality, and soon brought her fun and fabulous sensibility to her own handbag collection under her own name. Her handbags were featured in national magazines and TV shows and were a favorite of the trend-setting Hollywood crowd. In 2007, Susan put aside the handbag business to join forces with Veronica, her best friend from MTV, to collaborate on a new line of fashionista aprons.

About Veronica:

Veronica was born in South America. When she was 5 years old, her family moved to the USA in pursuit of the "American dream".  They settled in Queens, NY. Veronica met Susan while working at MTV as the On-Air Talent Manager. Their connection of all things fashion was immediate. Veronica expanded her career focus for the next few years as Marketing & PR Manager for a teen lifestyle brand while still freelancing as a celebrity talent booker. Her interest in the digital space then led her to becoming Production Manager for a Digital Design & Technology Agency. Her entrepreneurial spirit had been evident throughout her professional endeavors but it was the handmade apron that Susan gave her for her bridal shower that immediately sparked their new business collaboration.
